Affordability starts with remembering: it’s YOUR money council is spending. I am committed to keeping property taxes as low as possible while delivering better value for every dollar. We will grow our tax base through responsible development and pursue grants and partnerships before asking taxpayers to pay more. Major investments must always consider long-term operating costs.

A Stronger Local Economy
When farms and local businesses succeed, our entire community benefits. We must support farmers with reliable roads, drainage, and infrastructure. I will work to attract responsible investment and explore practical financing for viable new businesses. By expanding our commercial and industrial tax base, we create local employment and secure a prosperous future.

Providing a strong voice for Ward 1 means focusing on the basics: roads, drainage, clean water, and emergency services. I am dedicated to improving access to services for rural families and maintaining our community halls and recreation facilities. I will act as an accessible bridge between residents and municipal government, working closely with local associations.

A lifelong resident of the RM with deep roots in Ward 1, Gavin Patterson isn’t just running for office—he’s working for the community that raised him.
As a small-business owner and experienced clinical therapist holding both a BA and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, Gavin has spent his career listening to people and solving complex problems. He understands that effective representation requires more than just attending meetings—it requires a personal stake in the community. Gavin is dedicated to keeping Ward 1 affordable, safe, and strong for every family, ensuring the RM of Portage la Prairie remains a place where future generations can thrive.
